Clew Box, 2003 / Eggshells, mica, archival inkjet printing on Dobbin Mill kozo papers / Series of 3
Size: 3” x 3” x 3”
This tiny book object is covered in eggshell fragments and contains mica windows that reveal a ball of the thread within. Two of my texts, That Tree I Distinctly Remember and Cluttered, are printed on different colored papers and spun into the threads, with their ends hanging out through opposite holes in the box. The texts, both evocative & raw, are safe within their precious container. The only way to read them is to pull out each handspun thread, and then, unravel & unspin it, deconstructing the work.
