Morning Prayer 3

Unique series of 6 / Dobbin Books, NY: 2020
Sewn text on Dobbin Mill papers with embedded stones & other mixed media
7.5”x7.25”x3.5”

This small series is a re-visit to an earlier project of the same name. The book focuses on the portion of the Jewish morning prayer which males recite, giving thanks for not being born female. This misogynist phrase is sewn onto the penultimate page over a ripped piece of cloth embedded into the paper (rent clothing being part of the Jewish ritual mourning). The pages are made of skin-like papers with embedded stones (the stoning of the adulteress), along with other marks, piercing, & materials that scar and deface it.
